How Many CoolPeel Treatments Will I Need?

4 min read

For most patients, the starting point is simple: one CoolPeel treatment.

CoolPeel is genuine fractional CO₂ resurfacing. It is not a superficial facial that must automatically be purchased as a course before anything happens.

One properly selected treatment can create a visible improvement in fine lines, enlarged pores, rough texture, mild crepiness and general skin quality. The skin

then continues repairing and remodelling after the initial recovery has finished.

Rather than committing every patient to several appointments in advance, the result from the first treatment should be allowed to develop before deciding whether anything further is wanted.

Can One CoolPeel Make a Visible Difference?

Yes. Although CoolPeel is designed to keep downtime manageable, it still creates genuine microscopic CO₂ ablation.

The laser removes tiny areas of damaged surface tissue and stimulates the skin’s natural repair response. Once the initial redness, dryness and rough texture have settled, patients may notice:

  • Smoother skin

  • Softer fine lines

  • More refined-looking pores

  • Improved surface texture

  • Brighter, fresher-looking skin

  • Reduced mild crepiness

  • A more even and polished appearance

These changes come from actual skin renewal—not temporary hydration or swelling.

When Will the Result Appear?

Some improvement may become visible once the rough, sandpaper-like texture has shed and the surface feels smooth again.

However, this is only the beginning of the result.

CoolPeel stimulates a healing and collagen-remodelling response that continues after the skin looks fully recovered. Fine lines, texture and general skin quality may therefore continue improving over the following weeks.

Patients should not judge the final result several days after treatment or rush into booking another session before the first treatment has had time to work.

Why Isn’t CoolPeel Automatically Sold as a Course?

Many gentler skin treatments are routinely sold in courses because each individual appointment creates a relatively modest effect.

CoolPeel is different. It is an ablative fractional CO₂ treatment capable of creating a worthwhile result from one session.

That does not mean a patient can never repeat CoolPeel. It means further treatment should be based on the result achieved and the patient’s own goals—not on an assumption that everybody needs three or four appointments.

Patients should be able to have one treatment, allow the skin to remodel and then decide whether they are satisfied.

Could Someone Choose Another CoolPeel Later?

Yes. A patient may decide to repeat CoolPeel if they want to build on the result or treat further changes in the future.

This is an optional decision rather than a compulsory course.

A further treatment might be considered when:

  • The patient is pleased with the first result and wants additional improvement

  • New sun damage or textural changes develop over time

  • CoolPeel is being used as occasional skin maintenance

  • Another area is being treated

  • The patient prefers gradual improvement with minimal downtime

There is no need to decide this before seeing how the skin responds to the first procedure.

What if One CoolPeel Is Not Strong Enough?

If the concern is too advanced for one CoolPeel, the answer is not necessarily to keep repeating a superficial treatment.

CoolPeel is intended for concerns such as fine lines, enlarged pores, roughness, early sun damage and mild crepiness.

Patients with deeper wrinkles, established acne scarring, significant laxity or more advanced skin damage may achieve better value from a stronger fractional or ablative CO₂ treatment.

The CO₂ platform at Laser & Skin Belfast is not limited to CoolPeel. Treatment can be adjusted from superficial resurfacing through to deeper corrective procedures.

This allows the treatment intensity to match the concern.

CoolPeel or Deeper CO₂?

The correct choice depends on both the skin concern and the recovery the patient can accommodate.

CoolPeel may be appropriate for:

  • Fine lines

  • Enlarged pores

  • Rough or uneven texture

  • Early sun damage

  • Mild crepiness

  • General skin renewal

  • Patients wanting minimal disruption to everyday life

Stronger CO₂ may be more appropriate for:

  • Established wrinkles

  • Moderate-to-severe lines around the mouth

  • Significant acne scarring

  • Advanced sun damage

  • More pronounced skin laxity

  • Patients wanting a greater degree of correction

Several light treatments should not automatically be recommended when one stronger, properly selected treatment would be more suitable.

Is CoolPeel a Maintenance Treatment?

CoolPeel can be used as an occasional maintenance treatment, but it does not have to become a permanent appointment schedule.

The skin will continue to age, and future sun exposure can create new damage. Some patients may therefore choose another treatment later to maintain or build on their result.

Others may be satisfied after one session.

Daily sun protection and appropriate skincare will also help preserve the improvement.

What Determines the Result From One Treatment?

The result can be influenced by:

  • The patient’s starting skin condition

  • The concern being treated

  • Treatment strength and density

  • The area treated

  • Age and collagen response

  • Previous skin damage

  • Aftercare

  • Sun exposure

  • Individual healing response

This is why treatment should be personalised rather than based on a standard course offered to everyone.

The Simple Answer

Most patients begin with one CoolPeel treatment.

That single session can create a visible improvement in texture, pores, fine lines and overall skin quality, with further improvement developing as the skin remodels.

Once the result has developed, the patient can decide whether they want another CoolPeel in the future.

If the concern requires considerably more correction, a deeper CO₂ treatment may be more appropriate than repeatedly performing a light one.

CoolPeel is not a treatment patients must keep purchasing before they see a result.

One treatment. Genuine CO₂ resurfacing. Further treatment only if the patient wants more.
