What types of skin lesions can you remove?

We can treat a wide range of suitable benign skin lesions, including skin tags, milia, cherry angiomas, warts, verrucae and certain superficial pigmented lesions.

Not every lesion is suitable for cosmetic removal, so the area will be assessed before treatment. If there is any uncertainty about what a lesion is or whether it is appropriate to treat, we may recommend further assessment before proceeding.

How does cryotherapy remove a skin lesion?

Cryotherapy uses an extremely cold, precisely controlled jet to rapidly freeze the unwanted tissue.

Freezing damages the cells within the targeted lesion while allowing the surrounding healthy skin to be protected as much as possible. Following treatment, the lesion gradually breaks down as the area heals.

Depending on what has been treated, it may darken, crust, shrink or gradually disappear over the following days and weeks.

Does skin tag removal hurt?

Treatment is very quick and most people tolerate it well.

You may feel a brief, intense cold or stinging sensation while the lesion is being frozen, followed by some tenderness afterwards. Because many individual lesions only require a short application, any discomfort is usually brief.

How long does treatment take?

Individual small lesions can often be treated in seconds, making it possible to treat several lesions during the same appointment.

Your total appointment time will depend on the type, size, location and number of lesions being treated.

Can you remove multiple skin tags at the same appointment?

Yes. Multiple suitable skin tags or lesions can usually be treated during one appointment.

If you have several areas you'd like removed, we can assess them together and advise you on the most appropriate treatment plan and price.

Will one treatment remove the lesion completely?

Many small lesions respond very well to a single treatment, but some require more than one session.

Larger, thicker or more resistant lesions — particularly warts and verrucae — can require repeated treatment.

We cannot guarantee complete removal from a single session, and your practitioner will advise you what is realistically expected for the type of lesion being treated.

What happens after treatment?

The treated area may initially become red, swollen or tender. Depending on the lesion, it can then darken or form a small crust as the treated tissue heals.

It is important not to pick or remove any crust that develops. Allowing it to come away naturally helps the skin underneath heal properly.

Full healing time varies according to the lesion, its location and the intensity of treatment required.

Will skin tag removal leave a scar?

Any procedure that deliberately damages or removes skin tissue carries some risk of scarring or changes in pigmentation.

Cryotherapy is highly targeted, allowing us to treat the lesion while minimising unnecessary damage to the surrounding skin. Most small lesions heal well, but we cannot guarantee completely mark-free healing.

Can you remove lesions from the face?

Yes, many suitable facial lesions can be treated.

Precision is particularly important on highly visible areas, which is why the treatment is delivered directly to the lesion rather than broadly freezing the surrounding skin.

Suitability will depend on what the lesion is, its size and its location.

Can you remove a mole?

Moles require particular care because not every mole should be cosmetically removed without appropriate assessment.

If you are concerned about a mole, if it is new or changing, or if there is any uncertainty about its diagnosis, it should be appropriately assessed rather than simply treated cosmetically.

Can you treat cherry angiomas or red spots?

Yes. Small cherry angiomas, sometimes described as red moles or red spots, can be suitable for treatment depending on their size and location.

These are common benign vascular lesions that often become more numerous with age. The area will be assessed before treatment to make sure cryotherapy is appropriate.

Can you remove milia?

Yes. Milia are small, firm white bumps caused by keratin becoming trapped beneath the surface of the skin.

Depending on their size and location, they can be treated using an appropriate lesion-removal technique. We will assess the area first and determine the most suitable approach.

Can you remove warts and verrucae?

Yes. Cryotherapy can be used to treat warts and verrucae by freezing the affected tissue.

Because these lesions are caused by a virus and can extend deeper into the skin, they often require more than one treatment and can sometimes recur even after successful removal.
